This is how Yolanda has taught and is teaching using her drums and music. She teaches from her life experiences for we cannot teach what we have not experienced ourselves. She is strongly connected to Spirit, Earth Mother, and Nature as this is where her teachings and guidance come from as they do for us all. Yolanda has been making drums, teaching, sharing her music and working with women now for over 30 years. . ..
In 1991, Yolanda was guided to start the “Central Valley Moon Lodge Gatherings” in Modesto, CA. She started with 12 women in her small home and in less than two years the circle grew to over 300 women. She taught about the woman’s way of honoring the, “Give Away, the menses time of a woman. She worked and taught the honoring of the grandmothers, women, and the maidens. They would gather during the new moons to dream, and full moons to drum, sing, and dance, in celebration. They would also gather during the Equinox and Solstices at parks and do healing ceremonies dealing with their family, children, abuse, rape, etc. The purpose was to empower women to be strong so they could stand on their own and to understand their power.
